A Day in Washington D.C. (Jun 2024)
Just like that, Junior year has ended. What a whirlwind year it has been. I felt like I was drinking from the proverbial fire hose throughout the year! STEM-to-STEMM expanded with more interesting sessions in different neighboring communities, and school was exceptionally busy. So, it was a relief to take a day off from school and visit our nation's capital city.
I earned the Congressional Award Gold medal for volunteering and community service, and was invited by the U.S. Congress to participate in an Award ceremony at the Capitol building. On a gorgeous day, I had the opportunity to interact with other medalists from across the country, hear their amazing stories and share mine. Receiving the highest civilian recognition awarded by the U.S. Congress. It was an incredible honor. I had an awesome time with NJ Senator Cory Booker, who told me he had the best selfie-taking skills in the Senate. I also met our venerable House representative, Bill Pascrell, Jr. who invited me to his office and spent time chatting with me and my parents.
I'm back home now, and basking in gratitude. This year I worked harder than ever in my life, traveled farther than I ever have, made some fantastic friends, and found a deeper purpose to my future pursuits. Summer promises to be busy, and I can't wait for my next adventures!
