John Hopkins Medicine - Center for Music and Medicine

The Center for Music and Medicine spans initiatives across Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Medicine. Their work involves research, clinical care, and education. The Center’s mission is twofold: making music and rhythm an integral part of neurological illness treatment and improving the health of musicians worldwide. Recent research examines how music and rhythm-based therapy can benefit those suffering from Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, strokes, and various other conditions. The Center uses neuroimaging techniques to investigate the therapeutic benefits of music and rhythm on the brain. Additionally, the institute attempts to identify practice and performance patterns that put musicians and dancers at risk for injury.
